Expansion

The participation of Brahmin and Kurmi communities in the Lok Sabha from Uttar Pradesh is equal, while members of Thakur and Pasi communities will be in second place. The number of Muslims will be five. Political experts believe that the party has suffered a major setback due to the dent in Pasi, Nishad and Kurmi, which are part of BJP’s core vote bank.

However, on the question of constitution and reservation, other castes of Dalit class have also moved towards SP-Congress instead of BJP. This is the reason why BJP’s vote bank has slipped by about nine percent compared to the last election. SP and Congress are preparing to continuously sharpen this formula. In such a situation, BJP will have to make a new strategy.

There are 80 Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh. Congress has got six seats, SP 37, BJP 33, its allies Apna Dal has got one seat, RLD has got two and Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) has got one seat. Among the winning candidates from all the parties, the maximum number of candidates are 11 each from Brahmins and Kurmis. Whereas seven members each from Thakur and Pasi community have reached Lok Sabha.

The reason for the increase in the number of Kurmi and Pasi communities from Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha is the changed strategy of the All India Alliance (SP- Congress). While the SP created a new equation by coming out of the tag of Yadavs and Muslims, the Congress increased the participation of other castes instead of Brahmins. Congress gave 20-20 percent share of 17 seats to backward, Dalit and minorities.
